A bus conductor in Lagos state was said to have stabbed a passenger with a broken bottle over fares.
Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court held the hearing of the case on April 29, Wednesday, Vanguard reports.
The accused, 18-year-old Ademola Segun, is now facing a charge of assault, as the prosecution insisted that he had stabbed one Abraham Shedrack on the belly following an argument.
Inspector Innocent Uko told the court that the offence had been allegedly committed on March 6 at Ajido bus stop in Badagry.
“The accused stabbed the passenger on the stomach during an argument between them over the fare to pay. When the conductor asked the accused to pay his fare, the accused gave him a torn note which led to an argument between them.
“In the process, the accused took a bottle and stabbed the passenger on his stomach. The passenger is still on admission at a private hospital in Badagry.”
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. He was granted a bail in the sum of N100,000 with a surety in like sum. The next hearing was scheduled for May 4.
Earlier this month it was reported that two bus conductors had been arrested in Lagos over purportedly assaulting the palm wine seller following an argument."
