A Month After Jonathan’s Defeat At The Polls, Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Refuses To Speak To Her Husband [Investigation]

It is no longer news that Nigeria’s incumbent President, Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party was defeated during the March 28 Presidential elections in a tightly contested Presidential race by General Muhammadu Buhari, of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.What is disturbing however, is the silence from the wife of the President and First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan who according to Villa sources speaking on condition to remain anonymous say “she feels her husband failed her for losing the race to the (rtd) Military General of the opposition political party”.

Jonathan is Nigeria’s first incumbent President to be defeated in an elections by the Opposition and who immediately before the announcement of the final results conceded defeat by putting a call through to General Buhari of the APC.

Another Source at the Presidential Villa tells NewsWireNGR, that Mrs Jonathan who had asked party supporters to stone all those asking them to vote for “change”, a slogan used by the APC; “Locked herself in her bedroom inside the Presidential Villa for five days, weeping over the defeat”.

She continued, “The first lady refused to grant audience to even her husband who had the mandate”.

Mrs Jonathan who ran one of the most notorious campaign ever in the history of Nigeria as a “first lady” did say Buhari is unfit and too old to be the Nigeria’s president .

According to her, the former military dictator known for his stance against indiscipline and corruption was “brain dead” and on no account should he be allowed into the Aso Rock Villa.

Addressing supporters, mainly women at a rally in Kogi state, she spoke in pidgin language (Nigeria’s local lingua), “Wetin him dey find again? Him dey drag with him pikin mate, Old man wey no get brain, him brain don die pata pata.”

Mrs. Jonathan who was very visible at the presidential rallies, made vile comments about the president-elect and his party.

She carries a stronger personality to force on herself the “peoples mandate even when it became glaring they had lost out, but not for the President’s refusal” said a member of the ruling PDP who pleaded to remain anonymous.

“State Governors have had to pay monthly royalties to her, to enjoy favours and win tickets for their anointed candidates especially for those that weren’t retuning in 2015″.

Another source at the Villa who has served more than three President’s said to our correspondent over the phone when asked about the whereabout of Mrs Jonathan, “The First lady immediately left a week to the Rivers elections to ensure that her candidate, Nyesome Wike emerged winner”.

“She has stopped talking to her husband since he was defeated, she clearly see the defeat as his inability to be firm and assertive in politics” he said.

“Even the President that was defeated was the happiest in the Villa the day General Buhari was declared winner and we were all wondering, Madam Patience thinks the weakness of her husband costs him the defeat but we know she will get over it and start talking with him but for now, she’s been keeping to herself”.

The Bayelsa State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Osom Makbere, had also said President Goodluck Jonathan lost the March 28 presidential election due to the overbearing attitude of the President’s wife, Dame Patience.

According to him, other factors leading to Jonathan’s defeat “found room to flourish given the obstinacy and impudence on the part of Mrs. Jonathan. The end result of her personal ambition to plant ‘self-made’ governors triggered face-offs with some governors.”

An aide to the Presidency tells NewsWireNGR, isn’t it obvious that “The first lady was absent at the governorship polls while the President and his mum were at the polls to cast their ballots?”. “That day she was in Rivers State on her own account to make sure Wike won the Rivers Polls not withstanding that he (Wike) stood a chance but she didn’t want to take anything for granted following her husbands defeat”.

Similarly, the First Lady, was conspicuously absent at the 5th and last Presidential Prayer Breakfast Saturday.

Mrs. Jonathan always attended the presidential breakfast prayer which was initiated ?by her husband, ?President Goodluck Jonathan.

The first lady, who was vociferous before the March 28 presidential election, has stayed out of spotlight and has not made any public appearance after the president lost the poll.

While she sees her husband as a “failure” who allowed himself to be defeated according to her personal aide” who responded to our enquiry.

The wife of the president, surprisingly through her media aide, Ayo Adewuyi, was able to congratulate the wife of the president-elect, Aisha Buhari following the victory of her husband at the polls.

The First Lady in the statement, appealed to the Nigerian women to work with Hajia Aisha Buhari and give her the maximun support to make her succeed in her new assignment.

“The First Lady (Mama Peace) wishes her well in her new task,” the statement reads.

It would be recalled that at a presidential rally in Ibadan, Patience Jonathan feared that she will be jailed if the All Progressives Congress was voted into government."
