Amy Winehouse’s Family Slams ‘Amy’ Documentary

Amy
Amy Winehouse’s family has spoken out against “Amy,” the upcoming documentary based on the late singer’s life. A spokesperson for the family told People in a statement that they want to “disassociate themselves from the forthcoming film.”

“It is both misleading and contains some basic untruths,” the statement reads. Amy Winehouse’s father, Mitch Winehouse, also criticized the film while speaking to British newspaper The Sun.

“I felt sick when I watched it for the first time. Amy would be furious. This is not what she would have wanted,” he said.

The film, directed by Asif Kapadia, is slated to debut at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival in May. The first trailer for the documentary features the “Back To Black” singer talking about her career. Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning in July 2011.
