Belgian Footballer, Gregory Mertens Dies Three Days After Collapsing On The Pitch

Belgian footballer Gregory Mertens, who collapsed on the pitch during a game on Monday, has died aged 24, with his club describing his passing away as having left "everyone in despair."

A spokesman for the hospital confirmed to CNN that the Lokeren player died on Thursday at 16:30 CET.

Orioles Game In Baltimore Postponed Because Of Safety Concerns

The Baltimore Orioles' home game against the Chicago White Sox was postponed Monday night because of safety concerns after riots broke out near Camden Yards following the funeral of Freddie Gray.

Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred, at the stadium for a previously planned visit, said Tuesday night's game between the Orioles and White Sox could be moved -- possibly to Nationals Park in Washington -- if safety continued to be an issue.

The teams that made it to the semi-finals from the quarter-finals are; Bayern Munich of Germany who defeated Porto of Portugal 7-4 on aggregate, Barcelona of Spain who defeated PSG of France 5-1 on aggregate, Real Madrid of Spain defeated cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid 1-0 on aggregate.

The final team to make the semi-fianls was Juventus of Italy who overcame a resiliant and determined AS Monaco of France 1-0 on aggregate.

Stephen Keshi has been appointed Nigeria coach for the third time after signing a two-year contract on Tuesday.

The big boss as he is popularly called has enjoyed a good run as head coach of the country as in his first spell as coach, he won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Chelsea open up 10-point lead with gritty United win

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard struck late in the first half to secure a 1-0 home win over Manchester United and open a 10-point lead at the top of the Premier League on Saturday.

Belgium international Hazard found a neat finish in the 38th minute to grab his 18th goal in all competitions this season after Chelsea spent much of the opening period on the back foot.

Stephen Keshi To Sign Contract Friday – NFF

For the second time in two months, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has re-assured soccer loving Nigerians that the much talked about contract signing with Coach Stephen Keshi will take place this Friday.

 General Secretary of the federation, Dr. Sanusi Mohammed told journalists in Abuja yesterday that the football house was well aware of the need to engage a substantive coach for the national team because of the various international engagements of the Super Eagles.
